Smartisan unveiled its new flagship smartphone named Nut R1 in China. This is the world’s first ever smartphone of the Chinese company to feature 1Terabyte of internal storage. The Smartisan NUT R1 is said to come in four different storage variants which are mentioned below with the pricing details.
Smartisan NUT R1 – First Smartphone With A 1Terabyte Storage
Smartisan, maybe not the most popular of brands in the phone making business but will be gaining a lot of popularity with this groundbreaking move.
The Chinese company has launched a new device that has a 1TB variant with up to 8GB RAM and a powerful camera that accompanies the device. Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, with a processor speed, that clocks at 2.8ghz, 3600mAh capacity battery and a list of other respectable specs. It’s called Smartisan Nut R1 and it’s available in stores for sales at the moment, so you know it ain’t no joke.
This device will go down in the record book as the first device to hold as much as 1 terabyte storage space. Even though the brand has had a couple of A-list devices, like the Smartisan Nut 3, Nut pro 2 to mention a few, this would stand out as their best smartphone as at now.
The Nut R1 is not just a big head with a tiny body, that’s why a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, Octa-core processor is on the inside. This device is measured at 6.17 inches, a dual camera is present, an aluminium body and a powerful battery seal it status great flagship. It’s purely a premium smartphone.
HARD DISK DRIVE OR SMARTPHONE?
Some believe this phone would have done better as a hard-disk rather than a mobile phone, I actually seem to agree as well. 1 TB at this point could be so so excessive and the device might never get to deliver to the fullest.
I have tried to imagine what could consume up to 1 terabyte easily on a mobile, I can only see computer programs and installation files which has no business with a phone. When we finally get to fill the storage with so many files that it gets filled to about 90% of the entire storage, what happens? From my calculation, 90% of 1 terabyte is 900,000 MB or 900 GB. Can an 8GB RAM handle 900 GB efficiently ??

The Smartisan R1 is one of the very few devices that supports quick charge 4+. it also supports power delivery 3.0 and 10W wireless charging.
I personally feel it’s not worth it at this point in time. A smartphone user doesn’t even need 500 GB to carry about in his pocket, maybe in 2 or 3 decades from now a lot would have changed, but right now at this age? Smartisan Nut R1 is unnecessarily excessive. Just my opinion which could be different from yours. But at the end of the day, it’s a nice one.
