Looking at the approach manufacturers are hitting the smartphone space with this year, it is clear there’ll be a lot of competition. We can already see Samsung doing wonders with the launch of the new Galaxy M series, while Xiaomi, Lenovo amongst others are doing great as well. Vivo, however, just launch its latest Mid-range smartphone to competes with the Galaxy M10 and M20 devices, the Vivo U1.

The Vivo U1 might not be the best competitor device to th Galaxy M10 and M20 but it also packs remarkable specs that’s makes it stand out in the Mid-range segment. The device features a 6.2-inch Infinity-V full HD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, dimension 155.1 × 75.09 × 8.28mm. This is pretty much the same as the M10 and 0.1-inch smaller to M20, a dual camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The device is powered by Snapdragon 439 12nm SoC, this is pretty low compared to Samsung’s Exynos 7870 and Exynos 7904 which are present in the M10 and M20, but it is still accommodating in the Mid-range segment. It packs up to 4GB RAM for smooth multitasking with storage up to 64GB. The device runs Funtounch OS 4.5 based on the most recent Android 8.1 (Oreo). Vivo U1 will as well have a 3GB/32GB storage option.
Vivo U1 doesn’t disappoint in the camera department, it houses a with a 13MP main camera + 2MP rear camera with LED flash, an 8MP selfie camera is mounted on the water-drop notch with support for face unlock. The selfie camera is 2MP greater than that of the M10 and the same as the M20 which the complimentary camera (rear) is 3MP lower to both Galaxy M device.
The U1 packed a huge battery of 4030mAh, pretty cool. It more than what we saw on M10 and 970 lesser to M20 but, is it a good addition to the device and lastly, it weighs only Weight 163.5g.
Vivo U1 Price And Availability
The Samsung M10 and M20 are very portable price wise, it goes on sales for $113 – $183 and the Vivo U1 is excellent as well. The 3GB + 32GB option will be priced at $117 (N42,000) while the 4GB+ 64GB option will be priced at $176 (N63,000).
Both devices are great, and it can be quick tricky if you’re planning to choose from one them. Either one you choose, you’ll get value for your money.
