Infinix Hot 7 Review

Infinix Hot 7 is the newest member in the Hot series and a successor to last years Hot. Infinix Hot 7 is supposed to be “7timesHot” as described by the company, but, I really don’t see a lot of hotness going on in the device. The Hot 7 arrives as a budget smartphone while offering a few upgrades from its predecessor.

Before I draw my conclusion about the Hot 7, tet’s meet the device.

Infinix Hot 7 comes in two versions unlike the Hot 6 of last year which launched four versions in total, the standard, lite, pro and a special edition. Although it’s to early to say the company won’t launched a Pro version and maybe a special edition like the Hot 6X.

Design And Display

Infinix started to adopt the notch display with the Infinix Hot S3X and later made way again to the special edition of Hot 6, I’m talking about no other than the Hot 6X . Hot 7 as also followed in the infinity notch display line with reduced bezels. The device couples a 6.26-inch display, 96.7 cm2(about 82.0% screen-to-body ratio) PPI: 268 on a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels.

The device is plastic covered, there’s a single selfie cam for both versions of Hot 7 while the house different number of rear cameras. There’s a single camera option and a dual camera with LED flash, both having a fingerprint scanner at the back. You’ll find a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the device, the stereo speaker has been positioned on the back and of course, it is a dual sim phone.

Camera And Media

One of the noticeable upgrades in Infinix Hot 7 is the improved camera. While its predecessor couples a 13MP + 2MP rear camera lense, Hot 7 on the other hand spots a dual 13MP camera for the dual camera version and a single 13MP rear camera for the single camera version.

On the selfie side, both devices hold an 8MP cam with LED flash. The camera also comes with face unlock for an extra security. Both cameras are AI-powered, so you can expect bright photos from the cameras. The device also comes with a Dirac Mode to give you a better sound output.

Hardware and Software

At first I thought the Hot 7 would ship with the more recent Snapdragon processor, but the best the company could offer for an upgrade is the MediaTek MT6580P. The Quad-core processor is clocked at 1.3GHz CPU and you have a 1GB and 2GB RAM option to facilitate the smoothness of the device.

Infinix Hot 7 comes in two storage options, 1GB/16GB storage and 2GB/32GBB storage which can be expanded via SD card slot up to 128GB. The 1GB option tells you that it is Android GO edition while the 2GB run standard Android 8.1.0 Oreo OS. Unfortunately, the Infinix Hot 7 doesn’t get 4G connectivity, however, the 3G network should be ok for streaming, downloads etc.

Battery

Hot 7 using the same battery as it predecessor, it houses a 4000mAh battery that comes with flash charge. The provide will provide 48hr usage for an average user.

Is The Hot 7 “7TimesHot”?

Although the Infinix hot 7 features a few upgrades, it doesn’t really say much about the “7timeshot” has labelled. I wasn’t expecting to see a 4GB/64GB storage option, 4G LTE connectivity but it turned out to be that the Hot 6 Pro from last year rocks it better. Nonetheless, the Infinix Hot 7 is a good device. Another budget smartphone you might want to look at is the Tecno Pouvoir 2 Air, it is a very good alternative.
