WhatsApp Is Banning Users Who Use Modified Versions Of The App

WhatsApp as we all know is one of the most popular instant messaging app, although it offers great features, it lacks certain features that users would love to get in the official app. This has created a doorway for some developers to clone the Facebook-owned chat app and offers more interesting features and has made a lot of users switch from the official WhatsApp to clone or Mod WhatsApp.

Into other to maintain the security and privacy of users, WhatsApp is now banning users who are more inclined towards its clones than the official version of the app.

WhatsApp is now displaying a warning message to users who are violating WhatsApp terms and conditions by using a clone/Mod version of the official WhatsApp app. This was announced via the companys FAQ section, on the official website.

The company stated on their FAQ page; “Be aware that we ban accounts if we believe the account activity is in violation of our Terms of Service.”

Clone or Mod WhatsApp e.g YoWhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus and GBWhatsApp are unofficial version developed by third parties and although they offer cool features, they’re prone to security issues.

For those using clone WhatsApp version, some are already getting a warning message that, “Your phone number is banned from using WhatsApp. Contact support for help.”

If you’re one of the users who have already received the warning, you need not worry. At the moment the ban does not completely lock you out of using WhatsApp, you only need to uninstall the clone or Mod WhatsApp and install the official app from Google play store and you’re good.

However, there’s no guarantee that your previous saved chat (chat history) can/will be restored.

Following this announcement, WhatsApp has also announced an interesting new feature called reverse image chat.

With fake news spreading across WhatsApp rapidly, the company has now introduced Image Search Feature in other to reduce false information on WhatsApp.

WABetaInfo, a well-known WhatsApp leakster discovered a “search by image” function that will let you upload a received image directly to Google to reveal “similar or equal” images on the web. This new feature will simply help users identify whether the images they receive are legitimate or not

With this info, you should be able to more accurately judge whether the picture is real, or fake news.

How WhatsApp Reverse Image Search Works

When you select the Search image option, you’ll get an alert that the image will be uploaded to Google and after it has been uploaded, WhatsApp will open a browser to show the results.

The Reverse image search feature will be helpful by helping users find information about an image to confirm the authenticity of a news shared.

So, whenever you receive an image, you can try searching the Web with this feature to discover whether it’s worth reading or not.

The reverse image search, however, is not yet available but it’s most likely to surface in upcoming updates, maybe.
