These past few months, WhatsApp has rolled out several security features to help users get control over privacy which seems to be one of the most talked-about issues surrounding social media. We all know Facebook, the parent company has been facing security scandals these past months, however, the company is putting more effort to give users transparency and control over their activities on the platform.

In January 2019, WhatsApp rolled out Fingerprint Authentication feature to WhatsApp for iOS users, and now rolling out to Android users. With the new Fingerprint Authentication feature, users will now have total control of their WhatsApp Chat activities as WhatsApp will require FingerPrint ID authentication to unlock the WhatsApp application.

With the FingerPrint Authentication enabled, WhatsApp widget content will be hidden by default, however, users can still answer WhatsApp calls and reply to messages from notification panel since the authentication of the fingerprint is only required when the user wants to open the app and access it.
