Facebook has rolled out a new privacy-focused tool “Off-Facebook Activity”, a feature that allows users to manage how Facebook collects users data from apps and websites. You’d be shocked to know how much information Facebook collects about you without your consent, however, launching a new data tool shows the company is headed in the right direction.
As we all know, Facebook has received several lawsuits on privacy scandal, which I believe forced Facebook into launching the new Off-Facebook Activity tool.
The new Off-Facebook Activity tool will tell you exactly how Facebook stalks you, at the same time it will help you restrict Facebook from collecting or using your data.
The “Off-Facebook Activity” tracker will show you 180 days’ worth of the data Facebook collects about you from the many organizations and advertisers in cahoots with it.
What is Off-Facebook Activity?
According to Facebook, Off-Facebook activity is a summary of activity that businesses and organizations share with Facebook about users interactions, such as visiting their apps or websites. They use our Business Tools, like Facebook Login or Facebook Pixel, to share this information with Facebook.

How to Access The Off-Facebook Activity Feature
- Go to your Settings or visit this link. You’ll see the websites and apps you’ve visited that has shared your data with Facebook
- Click on Clear History so that Facebook removes that data from your account
- Click on the More Options drop-down menu to access Manage Future Activity and then click on the Manage Future Activity button to stop Facebook from adding this data to your profile in the future by disabling the toggle.
- Finally, go to Ad Preferences > Ad Settings > Ads based on data from partners and make sure this option is set to Not Allowed. You can access it here
Note: Enabling this feature however won’t stop Facebook from collecting your data from third-party companies, but it won’t be linked to your profile.
