After launching the Helio G85 and Dimensity Plus 5G Soc earlier this month, MediaTek has now added a new 5G Soc for upper mid-range sartphones, the Dimensity 820.
The all-new Dimensity 820 5G chip is built on 7nm process with 8 ARM cores (4x Cortex-A76 and 4x Cortex-A55). The 4X ARM cortex-A76 are all clocked to 2.6Ghz to deliver while the lightweight cores are clocked to 2.0Ghz. The new chip will deliver great performance and a better battery management for upper mid-range smartphones and support 120Hz refresh rate.
On the GPU side, it uses a five-core Mali-G57 which is expected to boost gaming performance by 33%. The chip also brings a few 5G-related features, such as 5G+5G dual SIM, 2CC carrier aggregation, and 5G UltraSave tech for more efficient connectivity.
Going to the photo and video side, it supports up to 80MP single camera and can shoot 4K HDR videos on multi-frames.Is is also worth mentioning that the new chip includes the companys APU 3.0 machine learning tech, sub-6Ghz 5G and MediaTek’s Hyper engine 2.0 technology.

The Dimensity 820 is expected to debut on the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 10X series next week, May 26 pricesly. The devices will be the first to feature the 5G chip.
