How To Install Android 11 Beta 1 On Your Xiaomi Device?

Google released the Android 11 Beta 1 earlier this month fro it pixel phones, the usual Google tradition we all know. It’s a natural phenomenon that Android fans would want to try the new Android OS on their device but only a few smartphones from some brands are part of the Google beta program. Now, however, you can install the Android 11 Beta 1 if you have a Xiaomi phone.

Popular Chinese OEMs that have also joined the Google Beta Program include OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi. Currently, the Android 11 beta 1 is available for just three Xiaomi devices — the Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, and Poco F2 Pro/Redmi K30 Pro. More Xiaomi phones will be added in coming days/weeks.

How to install Android 11 on Xiaomi phone?

Note, this Android 11 beta 1 is not MIUI 12 or based on the MIUI 12. It is pure Google AOSP ROM. Below is a quick preview of how Android 11 looks and feels like on the Mi 10 phone.

It is also important to note that the Android 11 first beta ROM will have several bugs and software issues. But, depending on the device, you may face minor bugs and software issues or maybe plenty of them. However, if you wish to install the update anyway, follow the simple step by step guide ahead.

Prerequisites:

  • Windows PC
  • MiFlash Tool — Download
  • Unlocked Bootloader — Guide here
  • USB Debugging enabled
  • Android 11 Beta 1 img file

Download Android 11 Beta 1

Step 1. Download the Android 11 Beta 1 Fastboot ROM for your device and MiFlash tool.

Step 2. Put your device in fastboot mode by pressing the power button and volume down button simultaneously.

Step 3. Once your device is in fastboot mode, plug/connect it to your Windows PC via a micro USB cable.

Step 4. Now, go back to the Fastboot ROM you download and extract it to a folder. Copy the folder path as show below. (Make sure there are no spaces in the address path. If there are spaces in-between the address, replace them with an underscore “_”)

Step 5. Next, run the MiFlash Tool as an administrator.

Step 6. When the MiFlash tool open up, click on the “Refresh” button before the flash button. This will allow it to detect your Xiaomi device and display it on the screen.

Step 7. Now, paste the address path you coped earlier in the MiFlash tool’s address bar.

Step 8. You’ll see some option at the bottom of the Flash tool, select “clean all.”

Step 9. If everything is fine up to this point, go ahead and hit the “flash” button to begin the flashing process.

Step 10. After a few minute, you should see a “Success” message at the result screen.

Step 11. Disconnect your device from the PC and wait for it to boot the latest Android version.
