Popular Xiaomi sub-brand Poco has launched a new midrange smartphone dubbed Poco M2 Pro, in an online event. Poco M2 Pro is the third device to launch under the Poco brand in 2020. It is coming after the company unveiled the Poco F2 Pro in May and Poco X2 Pro back in February.
The Poco M2 Pro like every other midrange smartphones from Xiaomi focuses on delivering super performance at a relatively low cost. With the Snapdragon 720G onboard, we can expect a smooth experience from the device. But that’s not all.
The Poco M2 Pro design brings back the Redmi Note 9 picture and interestingly it shares closely similar specs with the Redmi Note 9 Pro which makes me think of it as a rebranded Redmi Note 9 Pro model.
While the M2 Pro shares many similarities with the Redmi Note 9 Pro, there’s a few noticeable difference in the specs.
The Pro features a 6.67-inch 1080p LCD dot notch panel which houses a 16MP at the front. It uses the camera layout as the Redmi Note 9 series, a square-shaped camera setup with four sensors, including a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Unlike the Redmi Note 9 Pro which has a 5020mAh battery, the Poco M2 Pro boasts of a massive 5000mAh battery which also comes with a 33W fast charging support. The company says it can charge up to 50% within 30 minutes.
Also, the M2 Pro uses a side mounted fingerprint sensor similar to other Poco and Redmi phones launched this year.
