With TikTok out of the Indian atmosphere, its largest fan base and facing an uncertain faith in the US which also is its second-largest fan base due to privacy issues, app developers are starting to launch TikTok alternatives to fill in the gaps. Instagram is the latest company to take on TikTok since most TikTok users are already on Instagram, the company has launched a solution for TikTok fans on its platform called Reels.
Instagram Reels is not a standalone app, instead, it is a feature embedded in the Instagram app itself. It works similarly to TikTok, users can create and edit a 15 seconds long video and add music, filters, special effects and share with your followers.
Users can share Reels the same way they share Live videos or regular posts on Instagram. Instagram has also added a dedicated tab on the profile section where all your videos will be stored and visible to everyone.
Users can find Reels feature in the Camera segment, the button is located at the top left corner with an overhaul of the entirely new interface.
Instagram is hoping to lure young creators away with Reels which is already rolling out in more than 50 countries. Instagram has revamped its Explore page to create a specific landing spot for Reels at the top of the screen that people can vertically scroll through — similar to TikTok’s “For You Page.”
There are also options for saving a Reel as a draft before publishing. The cover image can also be changed and all other features that come to play when posting a video.
To start using Instagram Reels, update your Instagram app to the latest version and jump to the camera segment to create Reels for your fans.
